There is a lot of mathematics in the control of robots! In this presentation, some of the basic concepts of mathematics used in the control of a robot will be detailed. A focus of the presentation will be on comparing human functions to that of a robot. For example, the use of the human eye to gauge the distance of an object, and how a robot performs such a task with the use of mathematics.
Dr James E. Pickering is a Lecturer at Aston University, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. His teaching and research involve the use of mathematical models for the analysis and design of control systems. His research areas of interest are in the engineering domains of automotive and railway. James is a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Control Education.
