Turing Tumble Prize Draw Winner: Robot Day Coventry 2023

Updated: Mar 19

We have a winner! At our Coventry event on Saturday 18th March 2023, we held a prize draw for people who provided feedback about Robot Day. The lucky winner was Will, pictured here enjoying his Turing Tumble mechanical computer.

The Turing Tumble mechanical computer is an innovative way of teaching children and adults about logic systems and the principles of computing. It is a unique way of learning, as it allows the user to see physically how a computer processes information and uses simple logic gates to complete complex tasks.

Will's father told us that his son loves the Turing Tumble, and they have had several sessions together working through the book of challenges. They have already got halfway through the increasingly difficult puzzles and are impressed with what the mechanical computer can do with simple logic systems, such as binary counting with sets of counters.

They are also impressed by the mechanical computer's durability and how reusable the packaging is as a storage box, where everything has its place. They even took it away camping with them in their camper-van, where it makes a great activity for a rainy day. Will (and his Dad!) are sure to keep coming back to the Turing Tumble for years to come.

Robot Day aims to showcase the latest developments in robotics, automation, and AI, and it is a great platform to inspire young minds to take an interest in technology and innovation. The organisers are delighted that Will has been able to learn and enjoy the benefits of the Turing Tumble and hope to inspire many others to discover how computers and robots work.
